FIRST® LEGO® LEAGUE (Ages 10 - 14)

The Greensboro Science Center is sponsoring several teams for the FIRST® LEGO® League (FLL®) 2017-2018 Hydro Dynamics season. FLL is an international competition that revolves around designing and programming LEGO® Mindstorm robots to complete challenges on a themed mat. Students also learn team building skills and create innovative solutions for challenges facing today’s scientists. For more information about the international FLL program, visit www.firstinspires.org.

Our Program
The Greensboro Science Center is devoted to helping young people discover and develop a passion for STEM (science, technology, engineering and math). The FLL program is designed to help students learn STEM under the FLL Core Values. The annual programs culminate in a robotics competition and celebration where teams win recognition, gain self-confidence, develop people skills, make new friends and perhaps discover an unforeseen career path.

GSC teams meet once a week beginning in late August for 3-4 hours. Students who participate on teams are expected to attend the weekly meetings and do any homework assignments. The GSC also hosts an overnight lock-in event and in-house RoboRama practice tournament for its teams. Teams will also be competing in a regional FLL tournament hosted by NC FLL and A&T State University and will have the possibility to advance to the state competition depending on their performance at the regional tournament. Last year, we sent 3 teams to the state tournament.
